CIRC Celebrates Defeat of I-300, Vehicle Impound!
The proposed ordinance was defeated by a huge margin, with almost 70% of the vote.

We write to celebrate with you the resounding victory of defeating Initiative 300, Denver's Anti-Immigrant Vehicle Impound Proposal!!!
In this momentous success, Coloradans for Safe Communities, the broad-based coalition spearheading opposition to the measure, cites the strong collaborative campaign effort as pivotal to our win. We could not have done it without you!
Thousands of Coloradans voted in this year's election. Here in Denver, the proposed vehicle impound ordinance, Initiative 300, was defeated by a huge margin, with almost 70% of the vote. Initiative 300 was a thinly veiled attack on the immigrant community and would have forced police offers to impound the vehicle of anyone driving without a license on their person.
After months spent preparing press events, raising money, checking signatures, winning legal challenges, door-knocking, making phone calls, and recruiting others to help, we want to thank each and every one of you who contributed to this campaign.
We all know that much work remains to be done to make Colorado and the nation more just for all immigrants and refugees. We now turn our attention to passing humane reform at the national level and repealing enforcement measures here in Colorado.
Nevertheless, we should be thrilled by the outcome of this election and view it as a critical step in building the immigrant justice movement here in Colorado.
