Immigration Recommendations by DU Panel Pave Way for Comprehensive Immigration Reform in 2010
CIRC agrees with panel that legalization and improved immigrant integration are key to any reform
Denver - Today, the University of Denver's Strategic Issues Panel on Immigration released a set of public policy recommendations on immigration. The Colorado Immigrant Rights Coalition (CIRC) responded with the following statement:
"We are encouraged by the panel's conclusion that any successful reform must include opportunities for undocumented immigrants in the U.S. to legalize their status. Moreover, CIRC agrees with the panel's suggestions to support critical immigrant integration services, such as English language classes. The DU panel is very much in line with the direction that Congress and the White House are taking to introduce comprehensive immigration reform legislation in 2010. CIRC congratulates DU and the Strategic Issues Panel for leading a balanced and informed process, and we believe that the report serves as one more resounding message to Congress: Colorado and the country cannot wait any longer, we need comprehensive immigration reform now."
